Morning event: In this presentation, you can become more aware of some significant issues behind the development of algorithms.
PhD Natalie Schluter will tell why it is so important that far more women and minority groups participate in the development and application of fintech.
The influence of the algorithms happens unconsciously. The algorithms control large parts of the financial system and they affect what we see on Facebook and find on Google. Internal inventories from major technology companies like Google, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft showed last year that women account for only 16 percent of the technical workforce. The unconscious prejudices, thoughts, blind angles and associations from the developers affect the algorithms. Developers are not prejudiced or bad - they just fail to nuance the image that the algorithms draw. And nuance is what is needed. Come to a presentation where we dive into the importance of technology development for the global community.
Natalie Schluter holds a PhD in Computer Science and develops algorithms and machine learning.
